An Innovative Program Designed for Ages 8 - 12
The Child Center provides a dedicated team of experts who are sensitive to the needs of children and their families. The program maintains a high staff to patient ratio 24 hours a day, along with round the clock nursing services if needed. As with all Rogers Memorial services, treatment begins with an in-depth assessment used to develop each child's specific treatment plan. Board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists are on-site daily.
Our services are designed to establish an effective treatment partnership with each family. Parents may visit as often as possible and participate in family sessions in person or by phone. Parents learn about their child's challenges and how to deal with symptoms in order to feel confident taking on the role of coach when their child returns home.
We also involve parents in determining if medication is appropriate in conjunction with therapy. When used, medication will be closely monitored by the physician and nursing staff. The Child Center psychiatrists are members of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and uphold its stated position that no medication is ever to be used without therapy.
Educational services are provided by certified, on-staff teachers who coordinate academic work with each child's school or special education placement.
Age-specific recreational therapy (ropes and challenge course, hiking, biking, camping, art), leisure education and fitness provide outlets for energy, as well as opportunities to discover personal strengths.
Lengths of stay are flexible, but most stays will average 4 to 6 weeks.
